NEW LOCATION, SEE BELOW!  AND A POT LUCK!  For our last speaker meeting of 2015, we’ll start things off with a potluck at 5:30pm, followed by our speaker around 6pm for approximately 25 minutes, followed by open sharing for about 45 minutes.  There will be some time for fellowship & support following the meeting.Saturday, December 5th, 5:30pm POTLUCK
6pm-7:30pm Speaker/Sharing
Speaker: John H, Sacto
Mercy General Hospital
NEW LOCATION:
Mission Conference Room (behind Acute Rehab)
4001 J Street, East Sacramento
Parking: Multi-level parking structure off H Street or street parking on J Street and surrounding streets.

IMPORTANT LOCATION CHANGE!

The Saturday 11am DA meeting will now meet in the Mission Conference Room at Mercy General (their old chapel), which is located behind Acute Rehab in the North-Eastern-most building (you can see the stained glass windows from H Street).  Likely the best places to park are in the large parking structure off H Street, or street parking on the side streets connected to H Street where there is free 2-hour parking.  This is a permanent change, starting Saturday December 3rd, as far as anything in life is permanent.

  • A 12×12 for DA?!  Yes, it’s true, although so far it’s just the steps, not the traditions, so people are calling it “THE 12.”  It’s still in manuscript form, but you can purchase one yourself by clicking here for an order form, OR your local DA meeting probably has plans to purchase a stack of them, so check with your literature person.
  • Too much: there’s so much going on at the GSO level these days, it’s too much to list!  Visit the website to check out new literature, new information, open service positions…the list goes on!  Click here to check it all out.
  • Register your meeting on line!  This is a great new service…GSO has made it simple to register a new meeting, or renew your annual registration, by just going here.  Easy peasy!  Don’t forget, if you don’t renew your registration every year, your meeting falls off the big list.

SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES FOR 2016

Most DA meetings in the Sacto area change over service positions every six months.  That means the people who were serving as secretary or literature or treasurer or greeter are ready to let someone else take the wheel.  Doing service is a wonderful way to deepen your recovery, and is the only reason 12-Step groups are able to keep going.  Someone was there when you first arrived; is it your turn to be there for someone else?  There are lots of positions open, and perfection is not a requirement, so dip your toe in the warm, welcoming water of giving back.

OTHER WAYS TO CELEBRATE DA’S 40TH BIRTHDAY
Maybe dance parties and potlucks aren’t your thing, or your schedule just won’t make it happen.  There are other ways to honor this momentous occasion, pick one that feels good to you:
  • Make a 7th Tradition contribution to your homegroup or GSO for the same amount of years you’ve been in DA.
  • Reach out to a newcomer with an outreach call or an offer to sponsor.
  • Serve on a PRG.
  • Attend a business meeting.
  • Go to a new meeting.
  • Visit an Intergroup meeting to see all the various ways you can be of service to the Sacramento fellowship.
